Play while it's dry: BB has 4 games in 5 days

by The Sports Guy

Making up for lost time with the many rainouts this season, the Proctor baseball team squeezed four games into last week.

Action began at Esko on Mon., May 15, wth the visiting Rails falling 11-10 thanks to a bottom-of-the-seventh run that put the Eskomos ahead to stay. Dan Carlson and Justin Filzen had two hits each.

A day of rest proved to be no panacea for the Rails as they dropped a Wednesday road game 6-3 to Greenway.

Their third road game in four days found Proctor in an almost replay of the Esko game as Hermantown scored in the bottom of the seventh to take the win 3-2 on Thursday.

But as Dorothy said, there's no place like home, and a return to Egerdahl Field was just the lift needed as the Rails took out the frustrations of the long week by pummeling Eveleth-Gilbert 15-5 in six innings. Blake Reinke was the winning pitcher for Proctor. Reinke also scored three runs. Teammates Drew Scherber, Scott Lustig, and Carlson also shined. Scherber scored three runs; Lustig had three hits, two doubles, and two RBI's; and Carlson power-hit five RBI's to bring the Rails to 9-6-1 for the season...
