Proctor Baseball hosts Marshall in play-off opener

It was a rough week for the Proctor baseball team. Besides dodging potential rainstorms at every turn, the Rails came up with a goose egg in all three of their games, including two contests at Egerdahl Field -- usualy a safe haven.

...The Rails traveled to Wade Field [sic] on Wednesday to take on Duluth Denfeld. At 4-14 on the season, the Hunters may have been thought to be an easier team to beat. But Denfeld played inspired ball to come out on top by the thinnest of margins, 6-5. Tied up 5-5 in the bottom half of the seventh, extra innings seemed on tap until Denfeld loaded the bases. All that was needed then was a base hit. The Hunters got just that from Mike Lewis who pulled out the victory for the Hunters with a single that scored the winning run. Dan Carlson was hot for Proctor, recording two hits, one a triple...
