PROCTOR -- Six consecutive Rails batters scored in the bottom of the third inning as Proctor defeated Virginia in a non-conference baseball game Monday. In the third inning, Reed Olson (Sr., OF) drew a bases-loaded walk, and Ryan McCarthy (Soph., 1B) and Pat Everson (Jr., 3B) connected for back-to-back two-run hits. Ian Scherber (Soph., OF) plated Everson on an RBI fielder's choice groundout to give Proctor a 6-2 lead after three complete innings.
 
Virginia scored one run in the first inning on a solo home run and one in the third on two singles, a passed ball and a wild pitch. Virginia added two more runs in the fifth inning on two triples and a wild pitch, to cut Proctor's lead to 6-4.
 
Proctor got two insurance runs in the sixth inning when Jimmy Merling (Fr., OF) led off with a double, Tyler Pionk (Jr., SS) walked, Justin Scanlon (Jr., 2B) was hit by a pitch, and Olson hit a two-run single.
 
Alex Oachs (Jr., 2-1, 3.86 ERA) earned the complete game win. He allowed three earned runs in seven innings pitched on seven hits and four walks. He had three strikeouts.
