Preview Recap
Proctor Rails 3, Hibbing 0

PROCTOR -- It took Jake Lewis just 76 pitches in seven innings to shut out Hibbing and give Proctor its twelfth and final win of the regular season as the Rails defeated the Bluejackets in a non-conference baseball game Thursday. Lewis (5-1, 2.03 ERA, 38.0 IP) earned his fifth win of the season, and joined Alex Oachs as the school's first five-game winners since Ryan Vanderscheuren in 2004. He allowed three hits and no walks and had seven strikeouts.

Proctor manufactured a run in the fifth inning when Reed Olson led off with a walk, moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Lewis, gained third base on a fly out by Ian Scherber, and scored when Jimmy Merling reached on an error. Proctor added two insurance runs in the sixth inning when Olson delivered a two-out RBI single scoring Justin Scanlon after a single by Scanlon and a double by Ryan McCarthy. McCarthy scored when Lewis reached base on an error on a fielder's choice.

Proctor finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, the most wins in a regular season since the Rails won 12 in 1987, and one shy of the school record of 13 regular-season wins, set in 1981. Section 7AA Playoffs begin on Wed., June 2. Proctor will host a first-round game at 5:00 p.m.
