Recap for the 06/03/2010 game vs. Cloquet (Playoffs)

Preview Recap
Cloquet 7, Proctor Rails 2

DULUTH -- Cloquet avenged its loss to Proctor in the last week of the regular season with a win in the first round of the 2010 Section 7AA Final Four baseball tournament at Wade Stadium. The Lumberjacks put up five runs in the first inning on three hits, two walks, and an error before Proctor starting pitcher Ben Nelson, a freshman, settled in and allowed just two runs over the final six innings.

Nelson (1-3, 4.08 ERA, 24.0 IP) picked up the loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits and eight walks (one intentional) in the complete-game effort. He had six strikeouts.

Justin Scanlon had two hits for the Rails.

Proctor will face two-time defending section champion Mora at 4:30 p.m. on Tues., June 8, at Hermantown in an elimination game. Mora lost to Hermantown 6-5 in their Final Four first-round game today at Nashwauk. Should Proctor win, they would play the loser of the Cloquet/Hermantown game at Hermantown directly following their game against Mora. Proctor would need to win both games on Tues. to advance to the Section Finals.

The Section Final(s) will be held at Wade Stadium on Thurs., June 10, at 5:00 p.m. The second game, if necessary, would follow.
