ASHLAND, Wis. -- Jimmy Merling had two hits including a double, scored two runs, had a stolen base, made a diving catch in the outfield, and had an outfield assist on a double play to lead Proctor to a win over Ashland in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game at LumberJack Field on the Northland College campus in Ashland. The game was called after six complete innings due to darkness.
 
Proctor had a balanced attack offensively, as seven players tallied at least one hit. Jesse Scanlon, Justin Scanlon, and Cody Dolsen contributed two RBIs each.
 
Winning pitcher Jake Lewis (4-0, 1.94 ERA) allowed two earned runs on eight hits and one walk in five innings. He had eight strikeouts.
 
The win was the Rails' first against Ashland since the Oredockers joined the Lake Superior Conference in 2007.

Rails Notes: With a single in Tuesday's game at Ashland, Tyler Pionk now has 60 hits in his varsity career. He is the fourth player in PHS history to record 60 or more career hits...
