HIBBING -- Proctor's Ben Nelson outdueled Virginia's Patrick Anderson as Proctor staved off elimination with a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the Section 7AA Playoffs at Hibbing's Al Nyberg Field.

 

Nelson (5-1, 2.58 ERA) allowed four hits and zero walks in seven innings in a complete-game effort. He had six strikeouts.

 

Anderson allowed one earned run on three hits, two walks, and one hit batsman in six innings in a complete-game effort. He had four strikeouts.

 

Proctor scored on three consecutive two-out singles in the third inning by Jimmy Merling, Jesse Scanlon, and Ryan McCarthy. Merling scored from second base on McCarthy's infield hit.
