CLOQUET -- Gavin Tukkunen hit an 0-2 pitch for a single that scored Brandon Conklin with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning as Cloquet defeated Proctor in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game at Ed Mettner Field. Cloquet, down to its last strike and trailing 3-1, tied the score 3-3 on a two-run single by Kaleb Kadelbach in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the game into an extra inning.
 
Winning pitcher Adam Hanson worked all eight innings for the Lumberjacks (11-4). Hanson allowed three runs on six hits and five walks. He had three strikeouts.
 
Cloquet took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Dylan McIvor. The score remained the same until the top of the fifth when Proctor's Jimmy Merling delivered a two-run single. Proctor went up 3-1 in the seventh on an RBI single by Ian Scherber.
 
Losing pitcher Ben Nelson (3-2, 1.72 ERA) tossed his fifth complete game in five starts this season. Nelson allowed four runs on seven hits, two walks, and two hit batsmen in seven and two-thirds innings pitched. He had four strikeouts.
 
Proctor (7-4) has blown a lead and lost by one run in each loss. The Rails host Duluth Marshall on Tues. at 4:30 p.m.
