Donnie Gentilini's single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Tony Pearson, breaking a 2-2 tie and giving Virginia a non-conference win at home.
The Rails tied the game in the top of the seventh on Chris Watkins's two-run home run.
Jeff Okland was the winning pitcher and Ryan Skubic and Ben Anderson had two hits each for the Blue Devils, 7-3. Erick Lundgren and Brent Bordson each had two hits for Proctor. Pearson homered for Virginia.
