The Hunters scored seven runs in the first inning on their way to the Lake Superior Conference win at Wade.

Corey Verhel and Chris MacKay each had two hits and three RBIs, and John Esler had two hits and two RBIs for Denfeld, 5-5. Todd Nelson picked up the win in relief.

Nathan Sandman and Travis Tanski had three hits apiece, and Andy Slattengren had two hits for Proctor, 2-4.

Rail 9's rally not enough

The Rails baseball team rallied from a seven-run first-inning deficit, but it was not enough to beat Duluth Denfeld.

Nathan Sandman and Travis Tanski had three hits each and Andy Slattengren had two hits as they led Proctor's offense. The Hunters outscored the Rails by a run for a win at Wade Stadium.
