Mark Henry scored two runs for the undefeated Thunderhawks.

Winning pitcher Brian Maturi combined with Bryan Nikkel for a three-hitter and 12 strikeouts. Maturi also had two RBIs. Nine different players had hits for Grand Rapids (7-0).

Proctor is 1-3 [sic].

The Rails headed north for a match-up with the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks.

Although Proctor was shut out 8-0, [Coach] Rohweder stressed he was pleased with his team.

"Grand Rapids is the team to beat in this section," reported the coach. "They are well balanced and well coached. They are undefeated for a reason!"

The toughest inning of the game for Proctor came in the bottom half of the seventh [sic]. The Thunderhawks plated five runs to put the contest out of reach for the Rails.

Grand Rapids also scored one run in the first and two in the fifth inning.

At the plate Chris Hansen had one hit in one official trip to the plate, Travis Olsen had one hit in three trips to the plate, and Adam Carroll logged one hit in three at bat[s].

Dan Carlson started on the pitcher's mound for Proctor, with Hansen coming [in] for relief in the fourth.

The Rails shut down Grand Rapids in the third, fourth, and sixth [sic] innings.

The Thunderhawks pounded Proctor 8-0 in action at Legion Field Tuesday.

Brian Maturi picked up the win on the mound for Grand Rapids with relief help from Bryan Nikkel. The two pitchers tossed a combined three-hitter and struck out 12.

Maturi drove in two runs for the Thunderhawks while Mark Henry scored twice. Grand Rapids received hits from nine different players in the game.
