Proctor tops Trojans, falls to Rapids and Burnsville

The Proctor baseball team won their second game of the season last week, when they upended the Duluth Central Trojans. The game, one of the longest of the season, saw 24 runs posted. The Rails won 14-10.

Central opened with their first run crossing home plate in the top half of the first inning. That lead was swiftly wiped out in one quick swing, as Proctor's lead-off batter Ryan Anderson's first pitch offering, sent the baseball sailing high over the fence in left field for the home run.

The Trojans gained the one-run lead in the top of the second inning. As the bottom half got underway the picture changed dramatically. Proctor batted around the order, to an eight-run inning and the 9-2 lead.

Proctor was in control of this baseball game. The Rails posted two more runs, compared to one run by the Trojans. Proctor was sitting on the 10-3 lead.

Central exploded for what seemed an unstoppable rally to punch in seven runs in the top half of the sixth inning. Central trimmed the lead 12-10. Proctor scored two more runs for a four-run margin.

Starting the game on the pitcher's mound for Proctor was senior Bud Brandon Tessier, who logged five and a third innings. Tessier struck out six batters and gave up seven hits. Ryan Anderson stepped in as the relief pitcher.

Four Proctor batters logged two hits in four trips to the plate. Ryan Anderson had two RBI's, including his leadoff home run. Jake Comnick [had] two hits, two RBI's, and two runs. Seth Reinke added hits and two runs, while Doug Anderson clubbed two hits, two RBI's, and crossed home plate twice.

"This game is hard to describe," reported coach Tim Rohweder. "We played very well in the first five innings, but then we let them get back into the game. We need to learn how to put teams away when we have them down!"
