Hardballers top Marshall, lose to Esko and Carlton

Wins have been few and far between for the Proctor High School baseball team, so those victories the team grabs are as sweet as they can be.

Such was the case this past week as the Rails sandwiched in a big victory over Duluth Marshall between losses to Esko and Carlton.

Esko 9, Proctor 2

Action started at Egerdahl Field when Esko jumped all over the Rails in the second and third innings. The Eskomos scored one run in the second, three in the third, two more each in the fifth and sixth innings, and a solo run in the seventh to upend the host Rails 9-2.

Proctor scored one run in the fourth inning, and one in the sixth.

Dan Carlson took the loss on the pitcher's mound.

At the plate Ryan Anderson and Jake Comnick had one hit each, while Bud Brandon Tessier and one RBI.

Coach Tim Rohweder commented later, "Esko simply played a more complete game of baseball than we did!"
