Hibbing 15, Proctor 9 (12 innings)
Duluth News Tribune, May 1, 1983

Hibbing scored six runs, five of them unearned, in the top of the 12th inning and won a 4 1/2 hour game played at Proctor. Tom Bjello, who went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI, singled in the Bluejackets' first run in the 12th, and Proctor errors led to the rest of Hibbing's runs. The Rails jumped ahead 6-0 in the first inning. Scott St. Germaine singled and doubled in the inning, scoring once and driving in two runs. Todd Johnson also had a two-run single in the inning. Hibbing fought back, though, and Proctor needed single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the score at 8-8 and 9-9. Hibbing Daily Tribune, May 1, 1983

The Bluejacket baseball team cranked up their hitting attack again Saturday, beating Proctor, 15-9, in 12 innings.

A six-run 12th inning for the Bluejackets enabled them to win. Hibbing had fallen behind early when Proctor scored six runs in their half of the first inning. Hibbing made it 6-2 in their half of the second, but Proctor made it 7-2 in the fourth.

Hibbing chalked up a single tally in the fifth, and scored three runs in the sixth to pull within one. The Bluejackets went ahead, 8-7, in the seventh inning, but Proctor tied it to send the game into extra innings.

Both teams scored a run in the eighth inning, then settled down to a scoreless duel until the top of the 12th.

Pat Iozzo opened that inning with a double, and Vic Phillips sacrificed him to third. Chris Church also bunted, and Iozzo was able to score.

With two outs now, Tom Bjellos singled, Tim Carruth reached on an error, as did Pat Gazich. Tom Emanuel singled in two runs.
