Grand Rapids wins pair over Proctor
GRAND RAPIDS -- Mike Streetar pitched a five-hitter and struck out eight as Grand Rapids defeated Proctor 9-1 and swept a non-conference double-header here Saturday.
Todd Cleveland drove in the winning run with a sixth-inning single as...[Rapids] won the opener 3-2.
The six-time defending Region 7AA champion[s]...are 5-1.
Bill Kinnunen worked the first five innings for Grand Rapids in the first game. He gave up three hits, while striking out three and walking eight. Mike Sonaglia got the win with two innings of hitless relief.
Bill Norton had two of Proctor's hits. Pete Gagne had an RBI double for the Rails.
Sonaglia did the job with his bat in the second game. He had three hits and his second-inning two-run double keyed a six-run inning.
Tim Sundstrom and Gary Barby had two hits apiece for the Rails.
