Proctor vs. Silver Bay

The Rails opened action on the road at Silver Bay with a win, thanks to a last-minute rally in the top half of the seventh inning. The score was tied at five runs each as the teams headed into the seventh and final inning of play. Both squads knew this was the do-or-die inning. Any mistakes would likely cost that team the game.

Proctor pitcher Kyle Gustavson stepped up to the plate with teammate Dave Engstrom poised in scoring position, to go-ahead run. The 11th-grader stepped into the ball, and in a mighty swing of the bat launched a single base hit that sent Engstrom scurrying across home plate to notch what would be the winning run.

The Rails came away the 6-5 winners of this Lake Superior Conference game, making the long trip home a much happier one for the Rail hard ballers.

With the win, Proctor improved their season mark to 3-1, while the struggling Mariners dropped to a disappointing 0-3.
