Hibbing rolls to win

HIBBING -- Jake Stahlboerger had three hits and John Senich drove in four runs as Hibbing beat Proctor 9-1 Monday in a high school baseball game.

Hibbing (4-4-1) had 12 hits, including a two-run homer by Senich and a three-run homer by Jesse Stierwalt.

Jacob Walto's no-hit bid was broken up with one out in the sixth. He allowed one unearned run.

Proctor 1, Hibbing 9

Proctor started off the disastrous marathon with a trip to the Iron Range where the Rails were to face Hibbing in what could prove to be a key Section 7AA contest. Come play-off time the outcome of this contest could weigh heavily in the post-season seeding race.

Unfortunately, it was all Hibbing for the first six innings of play as the 'Rangers iron-tough defense proved to be the difference in the end. When the final statistics were tallied it was the performance of Hibbing's pitcher Jacob Walto that told the whole story. In all the Bluejackets hurler tossed six near-perfect no-hit innings of baseball, before one Rail senior was able to mar that effort. It was Proctor's Travis Warnygora who proved to be the spoiler, as the senior uncorked a well-placed single in the top of the seventh inning to crush the no-hit bid by the Hibbing pitcher.

But in the end that lone hit proved to be too little too late, as the Rails nine fell to Hibbing 9-1.

It was Chuck Forsythe who took the loss on the mound for the Rails.
