Proctor Rails 7, Cloquet 2

Dan Norton hurls gem

Dan Norton, Proctor high school athlete for all seasons, pitched his first no-hit, no-run game.

His gem came in a 14-0 five-inning win over Virginia in the Queen City. Dan, who doubles as a first baseman, had a previous shutout, but this was the first time he held the opposition hitless.

It was Proctor's third shutout.

His hurling heroics at Proctor high may be jeopardized, however. Playing at first against Cloquet Saturday, Dan hurt his finger as it was spiked by a Lumberjack runner on the last play of the game. Catcher Chuck Flynn caught the runner off base, and picked him off with a perfect throw to end the game. Proctor slammed 10 hits on the 7-2 win, as Nik Peterson allowed only two hits.

The Rails record so far stands at 5-2.
