PROCTOR -- Aitkin defeated Proctor, 11-5, in a non-conference baseball game here on Thursday, May 13.

The Gobblers capitalized on three walks, two stolen bases, and two wild pitches to plate a run in the top of the first. They made it a 3-0 score in the third on an RBI single by Jake Ince and a sacrifice fly by Owen Miller.

Proctor made the score 3-2 in the third on RBI hits by Kennan Reyelts and Nolan McLeod, but Aitkin answered with three runs in the fourth on one hit, four walks, and a hit batsman.

Nick Terhaar's fifth-inning two-run double made the score 6-5.

Aitkin iced the game with a five-run sixth. The Gobblers had two hits and five stolen bases and took advantage of Proctor's five walks, two errors, and a run-scoring wild pitch.

Winning pitcher Carson Kellem allowed five runs on three hits, six walks, and one hit batsman with three strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings.

Terhaar (0-2, 6.00 ERA) took the loss. He allowed six runs (five earned) on three hits and six walks in three innings. He had two strikeouts.

Ince had two hits and two RBI while Landon Janzen contributed two RBI for Aitkin.

Proctor's four pitchers combined for a new school record by allowing 16 bases on balls. The previous record of 13 was set in 1966 vs. Silver Bay and tied in 1978 vs. Duluth Central.

Proctor (6-6) is at the Mike Bugliosi Wood Bat Classic in Hibbing on Friday and Saturday, May 14-15. The Rails will face Greenway at 5:00 p.m. and Hibbing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Cloquet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
