Cloquet overcame a sensational pitching performance by Jim Masterson. Masterson whiffed 12 and allowed only one hit before being relieved by Bill Moen in the eighth inning.

The winning run came on Dave Huebner's single and steal of second base. Pinch hitter Steve Kori sacrificed and Ron Hagen singled in the winner. Terry Egerdahl's single in the first inning accounted for Proctor's run.
