Rails win on gem, hitting rampage
Proctor Journal, May 1972

One of Proctor high school's most potentially powerful baseball teams had a difficult time winning its first game. Those they lost were heartbreakers, usually by one run.

When they finally won, they did so in spectacular fashion. Behind Jim Masterson, who fired a no-hitter, the Rails gave vent to their frustrations and went on a rampage, blasting Two Harbors 16-1.

Jim, who excels in football and basketball, helped his own cause with two hits, Jim Merling stroked a three-run double and Bill Moen, who doubles as a pitcher, drove in three runs with two timely singles. Others who got two hits were Terry Egerdahl, Dave Beardsley and Mike Weir.
