Lakers beat Rails twice

MOOSE LAKE -- Keith Carlson squeezed home the winning run in the bottom half of the seventh inning of the first game and went two for two in the second game as Moose Lake extented its winning streak to four games with 5-4 and 11-1 high school baseball victories over Proctor Saturday.

Tim Ryden was the winning pitcher in each game, pitching the last two innings of relief in the first game and going all the way in the second game.

The Proctor Rails traveled to Moose Lake in a doubleheader on Saturday. Moose Lake swept both games, 5-4 and 11-1 in upping the record to 4-1. In the first game Moose Lake had to wait until the last inning to wrap it up after Proctor had battled back to tie the game in the last inning. The Lakers loaded the bases and Keith Carlson squeezed home the winning run, his fourth RBI in the game. Ted Ryden started pitching for Moose Lake and was relieved by his brother, Tim, in the fifth inning. Tim Ryden picked up the victory and the Lakers were fired up for the second game of the twin bill.

The Lakers showed Proctor how the game is played, in the second game, crushing the Rails 11-1 in five innings. Tim Ryden once again pitched the Lakers to victory with the help of some hot bats. Steve Youso led the hitting attack with a home run and single. Keith Carlson picked up two hits and two RBI with Ted Ryden, Ron Anderson, Tim Ryden, Duane Anderson, Jeff Peters and Curtis Takkunen, all adding hits to round out the attack. ...
