... Dan Howard came as close as possible to a no-hitter in chucking Central to an 8-0 verdict over Proctor at Hartley. Catcher Bill William Burros spoiled Howard's no-hitter with two out in the top of the seventh when he hit a wrong-field sinlge over the first baseman's head.
HOWARD IN FORM
Howard was at mid-season form, fanning 11 and walking just three. The big lefty used a sizzling fast ball and a good change up effectively. No Proctor player got further than second base.
Harvey Miller led the victory with two-for-three and Bill McGann crashed a double. Dave Holte got a two-run single in the sixth. Proctor's Denny Dennis Jollymore was touched for eight hits, walked seven and fanned eight.
