NASHWAUK -- Proctor defeated Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin, 11-0, in a non-conference baseball game here on Tuesday. The game ended after six innings due to the 10-run rule. It was the first game of the season for the Rails.

Winning pitcher Nick Terhaar tossed a no-hitter and accumulated 16 strikeouts. He allowed one walk and two hit batsmen.

The game remained scoreless until Proctor scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Rails added three more in the fifth and scored six in the sixth.

Cooper Johnson had three hits to lead the Rails. Wyatt Mineheine had two hits and three RBI. Terhaar and Dominic Gingerelli had two RBI.

Terhaar's no-hitter is the 18th in school records and first since Zach Gunderson and Lucas Nordquist combined on one in 2017. His 16 strikeouts in a game is tied for third in school records. Mike Grover holds the school record. He struck out 19 Cloquet Lumberjacks in a 1978 playoffs game. Joe Lane is second on the list. He had 17 strikeouts against Silver Bay in 1962. Terhaar tied Mike Grover (1977, vs. Two Harbors), Bill Richardson (1981, vs. Duluth East), and Chris Nylund (1990, vs. Superior).

Proctor, 1-0, hosts Mesabi East on Thursday, April 11.
