PROCTOR -- In the first game of the season for the Rails, Proctor defeated Two Harbors, 10-3, in a non-conference baseball game at home on April 22.

The Rails took a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Conner Pavlowich, who singled to lead off, scored on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Kennan Reyelts. After a walk to Grant Walker to load the bases, Josh Monreal hit a three-run double.

The Agates plated two unearned runs in the third to cut the lead to 4-2. Monreal delivered again in the bottom of the third with an RBI single.

Proctor plated two runs in the fourth, including an RBI ground out by Sam Johnson, for a 7-2 lead.

Walker, the winning pitcher, allowed two runs on four hits, three walks, and one hit batsman in four innings. He had eight strikeouts. Cole Fugere earned the save by tossing three relief innings. Fugere allowed one run (in the seventh, also unearned) on one hit and one walk with zero strikeouts.

The Rails scored two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Wyatt Okstad and an RBI double by Pavlowich. Monreal hit an RBI triple in the sixth for the final tally.

Proctor had 13 hits. Monreal and Blake Imhoff, in his varsity debut, both batted four-for-four to tie the school record for hits in a game. Monreal totaled five RBI. Pavlowich batted 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The Agates' B. Jones took the loss. He allowed seven runs, but just one earned run, on 11 hits and three walks in four and two-thirds innings. He had three strikeouts.

Proctor (1-0) is at Virginia on Friday, April 23. The Rails return to the Mesabi Range for a varsity-only tilt on Saturday, April 24, against Mesabi East at Aurora. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
