PROCTOR -- Proctor defeated Hermantown, 8-4, in the first game of a Lake Superior Conference doubleheader here on Tuesday. Hermantown took the nightcap, 11-9.
In the first game, winning pitcher Grant Walker (2-0 W-L, 1.68 ERA) allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four and one-third innings. Reliever Cole Fugere pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings for the save.
Proctor was led by Kennan Reyelts (2-for-4, double, run, two RBI) and Wyatt Okstad (2-for-3, run, two RBI).
In the second game, the Rails surrendered a 5-2 lead when Hermantown plated two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and six in the sixth. Reliever Tanner Ross (0-1 W-L, 15.75 ERA) was tagged with the loss. He allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks with one strikeout in one and one-third innings. Proctor rallied for three runs in the seventh. Ryan Schubitzke (2-for-3, triple, three RBI) and Cole Fugere (2-for-4, RBI) led Proctor's offense.
The Rails are now 3-2 and host Grand Rapids on Friday, April 30, at 1:00 p.m.
