International Falls leads 6-4


International Falls, the #4 seed in Sub-Section 2, finished the regular season with a 10-6 W-L record. The Broncos average 8.4 runs scored per game, while allowing 6.8 runs per game. They were 4-1 against Section 7AA opponents and 3-2 in Arrowhead Conference play. Head Coach Eric Walls is in his fifth season. The Broncos are 56-38 (.596) during Walls's tenure. Proctor, the #5 seed in Sub-Section 2, went 7-10 in the regular season. The Rails average 5.7 runs scored per game and 5.8 runs allowed per game. Proctor went 4-4 against Section 7AA opponents and 2-6 versus Lake Superior Conference teams. Head Coach Kyle Wojtysiak is in his eighth season. The Rails are 111-62 (.642) in his eight years. Proctor and International Falls have met four times in Section 7AA Playoffs competition, with two wins apiece.

In the 2013 quarterfinals, Jack Nikko pitched nine and one-third innings as the Rails lost, 1-0, on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning. In a 2nd-round game of the 2013 playoffs, Matt Dolsen pitched a complete game with no earned runs but the Rails fell, 2-0.

In a 2nd-round game of the 2011 playoffs, Proctor defeated Int'l Falls, 17-0 in five innings. Jake Lewis and Chase Lundberg combined on the shutout, Ryan McCarthy hit a home run, Tyler Pionk had two hits including a three-run double, and Justin Scanlon had two hits, three runs, and four RBI.

In a 1st-round game of the 2007 playoffs, Proctor rallied from a 6-3 deficit to win, 7-6. Jon Kent hit a three-run go-ahead home run into the football seats at Proctor and winning pitcher Kyle Cotrell tossed four shutout innings in relief of Drew Scherber, who hit a triple and scored twice.
